5 Common Build Mistakes!

Top 5 Build Mistakes and SF Products we use to fix them!

#1: When you build a fresh engine or transmission, it's inevitable that there will be some form of fine metal particles in your engine oil or transmission fluid. When using a factory drain plug, you are allowing these particles to circulate through your oil, potentially causing wear and tear on moving internal components.

Solution: SpeedFactory Racing Billet Magnetic Drain Plug

SpeedFactory Magnetic Drain Plugs remove metal shavings and fine metal sludge particles from your engine and transmission fluids, preventing these particles from circulating in your oil and causing unnecessary wear and tear.

#2: As these vehicles age, re-using original hardware throughout your build can become troublesome, as the factory steel bolts and studs corrode over time - causing rust and fastener failure.

Solution: SpeedFactory Titanium Hardware

From Oil Pan Hardware sets to Manifold Stud Kits, our Titanium is ~45% lighter, stronger, and will not corrode like your stock steel hardware!

#3: When installing a new engine that requires a different Engine Control Module (ECU/ECM), save yourself the common wiring headaches with our plug-and-play ECU Conversion Harnesses!

We designed our harnesses to be superior to other versions available on the market by using original equipment style ECU pin connections on all plugs, lengthening the harness leads to 7" and by using durable automotive grade wire that exceeds OEM specifications.

Installation is simple and no cutting or soldering is necessary.

#4: On a Honda / Acura B-Series Engine, not enough timing belt tension (Common with the OEM Timing Belt Tensioner spring) and you will get excessive belt deflection with poor cam timing control and a high risk of jumping teeth - resulting in expensive valve damage or worse.

Solution: SpeedFactory Racing B-Series HD Timing Belt Tensioner Spring

No timing belt skipping, no cam journal wear issues, just reliable and consistent belt tension that works!

#5: Once a head gasket is compressed from the head bolts / studs being torqued, it will not re-compress and seal effectively after being removed and re-installed. Attempting to reuse a head gasket can lead to leaks, loss of compression, and even engine damage, as the gasket will not be able to seal properly.

Solution: Not only replace, but also upgrade your head gasket to a SpeedFactory MLSS gasket! Check our the many benefits of our unique gaskets below.
